Aggie Energy and Renewing Your Electric Rate

by admin on September 21, 2012

I was speaking with a friend of mine yesterday by the name of Mr. Winn. He is an old Aggie from way back and gets those Aggie Alumni letters in the mail and keeps up with the University as he has time as any alumni would do.

When he saw he could sign with Aggie Energy “powered by Champion Energy” he was happy to do so and enjoyed his competitive rate for a year. It was then time to renew his plan and he did something I was surprised he took the time to do.

He was smart enough to go on the Champion Energy website and compare their rates with the Aggie Energy prices and what he discovered was that Champion had cheaper prices than what he could get with Aggie Energy.

All along he knew he was basically buying Champion Energy with a little Aggie logo on there so when he found he could get an even better price by choosing Champion Energy directly he did so.

I told him he was smart to have done this as most people probably wouldn’t have thought to even check on this.

When he asked the Aggie Energy sales agent why the price was cheaper when going direct on Champion Energy she simply said they offered a different rate. He politely said that he would rather just go on their main website and get the cheaper rate which the agent agreed he should do.

So as loyal of an Aggie as Mr. Winn is he still wanted to stay with Champion Energy because he honestly liked their service, billing, and price but having that Aggie logo on his bill just wasn’t enough to pay a higher price for another year.

The lesson here is simply not all Aggie fans are going to want to pay a higher price for electric service simply to have an Aggie logo on a bill.

I encouraged Mr. Winn to use our website and shop around with multiple providers and see if he can find an even cheaper price.
